Help Videos on the NYS Historic Newspapers Website

Two videos have been posted on the NYS Historic Newspaper website focusing on the new search interface that was implemented earlier this year. These two videos are an overview of the new interface, and how to utilize the new interface to search the database for a personal name. This is the first of the help videos to be restored to the new website interface, and more videos will be posted in the coming months. These new videos will include:

  • An Introduction to the New Interface
  • How to Browse a Newspaper
  • How to Save a Newspaper Page or Article
  • How to Navigate the Results Page
All of these videos will be uploaded to the NYS Historic Newspapers YouTube channel, allowing users to bookmark and save the videos for later reference.

Video on the Search Interface

The video on the Search Menu describes the project's new search interface that was implemented earlier this year. The video includes discussions on the different functions of the search menu, how to use those functions to provide the best search results, and how to utilize the browser cache feature to save search parameters.

Updated Help Page

The help page on the NYS Historic Newspapers website has also been updated to reflect the changes made with the transition to the new interface. This includes updated FAQ questions, the help videos, and an updated Contact Us section.
